Facilities & Student Support Office

Our West Perth campus is a secure, modern and spacious building with access to Wi-Fi throughout. Teaching areas are located on floors 2 and 3 and include kitchenettes, toilets and break-out areas. The administration block and library are located on the ground floor. Student Support is located on the ground floor and is a primary contact for any concerns you have. Students will be provided all relevant phone numbers and contact details for the campus at orientation.

Academic Integrity & Skills Support

As a higher education student you must adhere to academic codes of conduct and includes adherence to the law or ethical behaviour relevant to cheating, copyright, plagiarism, and research. These matters are discussed in more detail at orientation.

Library

To assist you with developing academic skills, library workshops are held each semester and are open to all students. Sessions include:

  • Study skills
  • Exam strategies
  • Academic literacy and writing
  • Research skills
  • Citation management
  • Referencing
  • Essay writing and assignment planning

Other sessions relating to life skills, careers, communication will also be available. For details regarding all sessions, please refer to the library schedule in Moodle.

The library includes student computers and multi-function printers for photocopying and scanning. It also includes student meeting areas and AV facilities. Students will have a photocopy account with credit to a predetermined value and to be used for study purposes. Photocopying additional to this will incur a charge. All details of photocopying charges not covered by your free account are provided at orientation. The library is open from 9.00 am – 5.00 pm, Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays.

Work Integrated Learning Support

Your course includes a Work Integrated Learning (WIL) unit in 3rd year which allows you to apply course skills in a real business. Stanley College and our work place learning partners have agreements that manage your WIL placement that ensure quality, safety and support.At the time of placement, a full induction will include:

Matters of health and safety

Emergency procedures

First aid arrangements and contacts

Name and location of health and safety representative,

Procedures for reporting accidents/incidents/risks

Details on the process for managing and resolving issues

You will be able to contact your on-site WIL supervisor or any Stanley College staff member to discuss your WIL placement.

Student Counselling Services

Stanley College offers a completely free Counselling Service for all enrolled students. Students often use the Counselling Service when they want to talk about the adjustment to life in full-time study and/or Australia, coping with homesickness, workload pressures, reducing stress, overcoming procrastination, relationship issues, or family problems. The Student Counselling Service aims to encourage academic success and to assist students to increase their enjoyment of study and college life by helping to reduce the effects of stress and anxiety caused by study, personal or family pressures. Stanley College has a qualified counsellor available for online appointments only to offer free and confidential assistance to all international students. Students can contact our free counselling service by either:

During orientation, you will be provided with the contact details of all relevant emergency services in Perth, such as the police, ambulance or mental health support. You will also receive information regarding situations in which you should call an emergency service. The Stanley College Emergency Line is to be used in the event of critical incidents.
A critical incident is any traumatic event or threat of an event which causes extreme stress, fear or injury. Please use the Stanley College Emergency Line as follows:

  • If you want to contact Stanley College after calling a public emergency service for a critical or emergency incident that has occurred off campus and that has strongly affected you.
  • If you observe a critical risk to property or people whilst you are on campus.

We hope that any issues can be resolved via our support services however we understand that it may be possible that you want to seek the support of a Third Party in relation to a decision or policy used at Stanley College. Our Student Grievance and Complaint Policy is a transparent and fair process that refers students to an independent external body (such as the consumer protection Ombudsman) if any complaint or concern has not been resolved to your satisfaction through our internal procedures.
